SAN FRANCISCO -- Zack Greinke, who is on the disabled list with a left oblique strain, is still another day or two away from playing catch, so the D-backs right-hander will likely not be ready to return for the team's first turn through the rotation after the All-Star break.

"I don't think that date is attainable because that was contingent on him throwing Friday," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "He'll go back to Phoenix and hopefully throw in the next couple of days. He says he's almost to the point where he can play catch, so it's getting better."

Even if Greinke is not ready right after the All-Star break, the D-backs will not need a fifth starter because they have two off-days in their first week of games following the break.
