Obama invites Cubs to White House
CHICAGO -- President Barack Obama may be a White Sox fan, but he applauded the Cubs' first World Series championship since 1908 by inviting manager Joe Maddon and the team to the White House.
Obama tweeted after the Cubs captured the Series by beating the Indians in Game 7.

The Cubs will have to hurry. Obama's term ends on Jan. 20. The Cubs celebrated the championship with their fans on Friday at Hutchinson Field, the same location in Grant Park where Obama accepted the presidency eight years ago to the day, Nov. 4, 2008.

Obama also called Maddon to officially extend the invitation to the White House. The president has welcomed the Blackhawks to the White House three times after their NHL championships in 2010, '13 and '15.
A few of the players will also join in the fun during this week's episode of "Saturday Night Live." Catcher David Ross told MLB Network that some of the players will appear on the show.
